Jazz musician Hector Tejedo presents his new LP "The Single Petal of a Rose", where, together with his usual trio, he pays tribute to Duke Ellington .
Starting October 3, 2025, The Single Petal of a Rose (Formula Free 2025), the second album as leader by Catalan bassist and composer Hector Tejedo, will be available. This LP, comprised of eight tracks, sees the Hector Tejedo Trio paying homage to the world of composer, pianist, and big band leader Duke Ellington, an essential figure in the history of jazz.
In this, his second album as a leader, Hector Tejedo displays an artistic maturity that solidifies his position as one of the great discoveries of Spanish jazz. After training at the Taller de Músics and the ESMUC (Catalan School of Music), he has been part of projects such as the Jofre Fité Trio, the Ernest Pipó Sextet, the Original Jazz Orchestra of the Taller de Músics, and the Pablo Martín Trio, with whom he has a long and distinguished career. He has performed at venues such as the Palau de la Música, the Conservatori del Liceu, and renowned jazz festivals. His career combines performance, composition, and teaching.
For this journey, Tejedo has surrounded himself with two exceptional collaborators and, like Ellington, knows how to highlight the individual talents of the musicians who accompany him: Danilo Tarso (piano), winner of the 2019 Lelio Luttazzi Prize, combines contemporary jazz and classical music with great sensitivity, and Lluís Naval (drums), a third-generation musician trained in Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Philadelphia, brings a versatility that transforms each piece into a prodigious arena for rhythmic dialogue. The result is a balanced and elegant trio, capable of engaging with tradition and opening up new interpretations of jazz.
